The Prince of Wales demonstrated his continued support for British creative talent during a visit to the London Screen Academy (LSA) on Wednesday, where he met with aspiring filmmakers and creative professionals.

In his role as President of BAFTA, Prince William toured the free-to-attend sixth form academy, which has been addressing the skills shortage and diversity gap in the UK screen and creative industries since its 2019 opening.

The highlight of the royal visit was the Prince's hands-on participation in the production of "Melomania," a short film being created by Year 13 students as part of their "Collaboration Project." The project transforms the school into a working film set, bringing together students from four distinct pathways: Craft, Technical, Post-Production, and Production Management.

During his tour, the Prince engaged with students across various departments, visiting hair and makeup teams and learning about costume creation before stepping onto the set to assist with filming. The experience offered him firsthand insight into the comprehensive training LSA provides through its industry-focused curriculum, which combines practical skills with traditional qualifications like Maths and English A Levels.

The visit particularly highlighted the academy's role as a BAFTA Prince William bursary partner, underlining the Prince's commitment to breaking down barriers for emerging talent in the British TV, film, and games industries. Founded by leading figures in the film industry, LSA has established itself as a vital pipeline for developing diverse talent in the creative sector.

Speaking with students throughout the visit, Prince William heard about their experiences and the knowledge they've gained through their courses, reinforcing his dedication to supporting the next generation of British creative professionals.

The LSA visit marks another step in the Prince's ongoing efforts to ensure the UK's creative industries remain accessible to talented individuals from all backgrounds, continuing BAFTA's mission to nurture and develop emerging creative talent.
